![]() It really depends, what things you like to make easier/more fair, they designed it (also the rebalance mod) to change whatever you want or like It also takes into account special circumstances that lead to a promotion that the default LW game does not notify you of, such as a rookie seeing an Outsider giving them enough XP to promote. The XP display makes managing XP in missions much easier. No more wondering if there's 1 more lid or seeker out there. I can't count the number of times aliens have activated off screen that I couldn't count because the camera was locked onto something else. The active alien tracker is soooo useful. ![]() Although, the display likes whole numbers, so it always rounds up if people have non-whole numbers of DR (ie: 1.5 DR is rounded up to 2) while on a mission. The new displays on mobility aren't that important, but knowing the DR of your MECs or Bio-tanks is pretty useful. XP values take mission completion bonuses into account." "Displays soldier XP/PsiXP, mobility, damage reduction and active alien counts on the soldier info screen during battle (F1). This mod helps a lot with managing the tactical game. I made a few other qol tweaks, and whenever it actually ended up giving me an advantage, I didn't care. This obviously resulted in some over powered guys, but I didn't mind much. ![]() So I baked what would be a good roll into the stat progression, as frontloaded as possible to balance it out. But I missed things like scouts and assaults who lucked with speed of the gods and super high aim snipers. I found I spent too long deciding what class to make people, so just made everyone equal and picked a class based on what I imagined their personalities to be. I boosted interceptor accuracy and squad mobility, nerfed alien mobility. I tweaked a few things in the ini to help myself out. I found it refreshing at first, but it eventually got to me. You['ll have a lot more losses before the end, but it's balanced around that happening. ![]() Loosing 2 soldiers in the first mission is a good result. It's built with the understanding you'll be obsessively looking up and researching every mechanic. For the people who wanted to experience or remember the brutal and unforgiving nature of the original games that's not around much anymore. The thing to bear in mind is that longwar was specifically written by hardcore gamers to cater to hardcore gamers. This was quite a few months ago, I don't remember exactly how it went that well.Ģ)I think it's also worth noting that I've already beaten Xcom 2 with most parts of long war 2 installed with no difficulties. It wasn't the starter mission I lost two soldiers on, it was the one immediately after that. can anyone give any recommendations?ĮDIT: 1)correction. Like I said, there are a lot of metamods on the nexus designed to make this mod easier, but none of them seem to give any specifics in the descriptions. I lost two soldiers before I even finished the starter mission. So I set those in place, started my campaign, and selected the lowest difficulty setting. I read the description of Long war carefully, and realized I would not be able to play it without those training difficulties in place instead of the default ones. I must say, I'm quite imressed with Long War that it seems to be THE xcom mod, and in fact there are quite a few mods on the modnexus designed to modify this mod metamods.
